If you want to live in high-end areas (example: Gachibowli, Financial District, Jubilee Hills, Hitech City, etc.), you can expect to pay INR 15,000 to 25,000 for a 1BHK flat.  

This might raise the question, “Is Hyderabad expensive?.” However, in areas like LB Nagar, Dilsukhnagar, Ameerpet, etc., the price of 1BHK flats starts at INR 7,000.  

There are also paying guest accommodations, which are available at a cost of INR 5,000 to 20,000 (including accommodation, food, etc.). As a result, depending on the type of accommodation and location, the monthly average rent in Hyderabad can range anywhere between INR 5,000 to 50,000 or more.  

Groceries

The price of groceries in Hyderabad is quite reasonable. You can get fruits and vegetables at a cheaper price at local farmer markets compared to the supermarkets. There are services like BigBasket, Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart, and more, which deliver groceries to your doorstep within minutes, but the rates are a little high.  

The average price of groceries per month can range from INR 3,000 to 20,000, again it depends on the total number of people you are living with and how often you cook at home.  

Utility bills

A significant amount of your income goes towards utility bills, which include electricity, water, internet, phone bills, and more. Depending on your electricity consumption levels, the rate in Hyderabad differs from INR 1.49 to 8.5 per unit. The same goes for water bills. The combined average electricity and water bills can range from INR 1,000 to 5,000 (or more).  

The monthly internet plans in Hyderabad start at INR 500 and go up to INR 2,500. The unlimited pre-paid mobile plans start at around INR 299 (varies depending on the service provider) and it is almost similar for TV connection as well. Coming to the LPG gas, the cost of 1 cylinder is about INR 850 to 950. All these will add up, increasing the monthly average living cost in Hyderabad.  

Transportation

The transportation expenses will vary depending on whether you are using your own vehicle or public transportation. The petrol price in Hyderabad is around INR 107 per liter, while diesel price is INR 95. You can save up on transportation expenses if you are using electric vehicles.  

Coming to public transportation, there are buses, metro rail, autos, cabs, bikes, etc. Metro is the cheapest transportation method, while cabs will cost you hundreds and thousands. Depending on how frequently you travel and the mode of transportation, the monthly costs can range from INR 1,000 to INR 10,000 or more.  

Restaurants

If you are someone who often order food from hotels and restaurants, expenses for you can become one of the biggest monthly living expenses in Hyderabad. If you eat at regular restaurants, the average cost for 1 person is INR 150 to 400, while at high-end or 5-star hotels, the average price is INR 2,000 to 5,000. There are even food stalls on the street, which are relatively inexpensive.  

Entertainment

What’s life without entertainment, right? In Hyderabad, there are plenty of entertainment options, such as museums, historical landmarks, parks, adventure activities, nightlife, movie theaters, and more. Most of the tourist places in Hyderabad are either free of cost or charge a small fee. Besides this, you can expect to spend around INR 1,500 to 10,000 or more per month on entertainment.  

Shopping

There are numerous popular spots in Hyderabad, such as Koti market, Charminar streets, Begum Bazar, and many more. All these are local markets where you can buy things for a cheaper price. Similarly, there are also high-end shopping malls with branded stores. The monthly shopping expenses will vary greatly as it is totally based on your needs and shopping habits.  

Healthcare

Healthcare expenses should also be considered as a part of the cost of living in Hyderabad. Healthcare insurance plans in Hyderabad are quite affordable. Factors like your existing medical conditions, age, and total members in your family will affect the monthly premium amount you need to pay. The monthly health insurance amount starts at INR 300.
